What started as a challenge in my garden to prevent our squirrels getting more than their fair share of the bird food, has ended after several years of trials in this                                                               very effective squirrel                                                                   resistant bird feeder. The device that deters the                                                                               squirrel is not only harmless to him, but very effective. 

This feeder is suitable for both sunflower seeds and bird nuts, making it ideal for a wide variety of garden birds.

The birds can peck the food through the mesh tube  or take it out of the lower feeding hole. 

The squirrel has very limited success in getting the seeds or nuts through the mesh and cannot get at the lower feeding hole which is protected by the PVC shield. When he tries to climb on it, he cannot grip, the shield tips and he just slides off.
